Last night I went to Spectators and Fiestas. I was very dissappointed at Specs because of the basketball games. They have 2 seperate rooms, and each were only half full. Why not just have one room for karaoke to start on time while the game is in the other room? And his sound was way off, there was no high, so it was muffled, and to quite. Fiesta's was lively and energetic as always, of course thats Toby for ya!

Just left Ed's Pub...had a fantastic time. Liz is awesome. The sound system needs upgrade, but it was loads of fun...

I don't get out much..

I Like the forum thing. As I get to know more about the people and singers in the Abq karaoke scene, I like to know where the hot activity is happening. Every week I find some amazing talent out there, and am pleasantly suprized. Really am having fun with it all.

I think this site is awesome and I really hope people use it in a constructive way . We all want everyone's business at out venue but I think its great to be able to have a selection of places to choose from. I think that if we all try to work together in a positive way that everyone will be successful. I am trying to start going out different venues to see what's out there , meet new singers , and just support the karaoke community.

I must say that Fridays are worth living for!! Totally like the GREAT TIMES w/Tommy Hurricane at the Desert Greens Golf Course. Not only is it a GREAT TIME w/him, but the food is GREAT (also inexpensive), and gotta love the $2 drafts. Customer service still tends to lack, but now that Red (Laurie Kent) is working the floor-maybe things are looking up.
7. Ozz said on 3/19/12 - 08:52PM
Milli...Liz is great, she almost rented my house lol,...Jim, I love Desert Greens, that is a very classy place to sing, don't know what the service pre-red was but I know it's been fine with her...and oh she can sing too!
8. Milli said on 3/22/12 - 08:35PM
Just left Gante....This evening was off the chain. I had so much fun...the KJ is awesome, he really knows how to play to the crowd. His speakers needs some tweaking but he's just getting started...I foresee great things happening with him! Thanks Ozz... you are terrific :-)
9. Ozz said on 3/23/12 - 06:05AM
Thanks Milli and I have to totally agree...KJ Sidekick is a blast, I have no doubt in time he will get his sound perfect, what an awesome time, what a blast!

I want to thank everyone who came out to Hollywood Casino last night. It was absolutly an awesome night. There is no doubt Howling Coyote puts on one hell of show. The sound in that auditorium is the best there is period. Mark your calander for 4-20. And stay closely posted to the website for updates, with the amount of singers coming out there may have to be a change in the way you sign up to sing.
11. The Mighty Delfino said on 3/24/12 - 02:53PM
You're absolutely right Ozz; Howling Coyote put on one helluva show last night at Casino Hollywood. I'd like to see more people there, because that room packs over 1000. The lights, the awesome sound, the 40 foot stage, the energy, and the company all made for a very enjoyable, and memorable experience. I'll be back for 4-20!
12. Milli said on 3/24/12 - 03:26PM
You are so right Ozz...had a terrific time last night...So looking forward to next month!
13. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 3/24/12 - 07:10PM
I had a great time listening to some amazing singers at Hollywood! The rotation was a little long, but the music was great.I wish Howling Coyote would move back to Santa Ana again on thursdays like they used to do! Always look forward to the performances!
14. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 3/26/12 - 02:22PM
Looking forward to Friday night at Desert Greens Karaoke! It's my home court. Jim W-ski is right it's a great place for karaoke, and the food is good and inexpensive. Tommy Hurricane put's on a great show, and the people that go are some of the friendliest around! Lots of fun!
15. Ozz said on 3/27/12 - 05:38AM
Delfino, Milli and Mike....thanks for your feedback on Hollywood Casino, it was an awesome time, is it 4-20 yet? Each time they have done this the rotation has grown by 10, and every one of them is an amazing singer. In order to make sure everyone gets to sing at least twice in the future, singers would have to RSVP in advance, what are your thoughts on that?
16. Ozz said on 3/27/12 - 05:40AM
Hey MikieElves....I gotta agree with on Desert Greens, I don't know what it is about that place but it's very warm and comfi. I love singing there, one of my favs.
17. Ozz said on 3/27/12 - 07:17PM
So last night I went to Sandia Casino and Blackbird. Two totally def ends of the spectrum. I sang Dreamer and I Don't Know at Sandia, the nice thing is coffee and water are right at hand and free, and thanks to Ron from Midtown Rentals, so were Coronas, lol. I think Byron puts on a great show. Saw Cowboy, Katrina, Frankie J, and Amos. Blackbird was fricken packed as always. Younger crazy crowd and it is very very loud. DJ Speed just put in his old/new sound board and it sounded sweet doing Wish You Were Here. He had 28 singers when I left. 2 goos spots on a Monday, depending on your mood.
18. Milli said on 3/31/12 - 07:22AM
Hung out at Ed's Pub last night. It's such a warm friendly place. Liz rocks!
19. Milli said on 3/31/12 - 07:26AM
Ozz...re: post of 3/27. I think an advance RSVP would be a great idea...it's a long way to drive to sing only once!
20. Ozz said on 3/31/12 - 06:45PM
Yup I mentioned it to Audra on Friday...I think she's on board with it.....I'll keep you all posted
21. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 4/7/12 - 11:44AM
Spent Friday night at Desert Greens. We all had a great time singing, the rotation was not too long. It was good Friday, so I guess a few people stayed in . It was good to have Ozz stop in for a visit. Looking forward to next week once people get back out to sing and get the routine going again.
22. Ozz said on 4/10/12 - 08:57AM
It was good to see you and your crew Mike. All the pics did nnot come out as good as I hoped so next time I am up there I will be a snapshot fool! I did get one of your whole table and it's posted I hope you saw it....and FYI I would not have sang a 7:51 minute song if Liz did not insist and the rotaion was longer LOL.
23. Ozz said on 4/10/12 - 09:11AM
So for those of yoou who know me, you know the last couple of weeks have been a little crazy moving and all, but it has not stopped Ozz from going out and singing, but it did put me behind on posting my thoughts. So here's a little catch up for you. On Tuesday, April 3rd, we held the Who-What-Where drawing at The Barley Room, Milli was the proud winner of 4 Isotops tickets courtesy of Midtown Rentals. DJ Speed was sounding great and they had a new server that was not only cute but she was on top of it. Then I cruised on over to The Soch where Kammo himself was cranking it out and I rocked them with You Got Another Thing Comin....they loved it.
24. Ozz said on 4/10/12 - 09:17AM
Then on Friday April 6th I was supposed to stay in but my brother showed up in town unexpectidly. So we had to show him around dontcha know? We started our evening with dinner at EL NORTENO (which BTW if you tell them you saw it on call me you ozz, you get a buy one get one free dinner entree). Then we cruised up to Desert Greens where we found Tommy Hurrikane....Liz said she loved it there and will be hanging out there more often....all was good except he made fun of me doing Stairway To Heaven. Then we hit Slate Street, which the crowd was little on the wierd side but none the less Ben Jammin was jammin, I sang Shot In The Dark and headed to Fiestas. Fiesta's was packed, standing room only. Got to sing one song, but it was good one, "Whole Lotta Love". Then we called it a night.
25. Ozz said on 4/10/12 - 09:22AM
On Saturday, April 7th, I started my night with Famous Amos at Effingbar. Sang No More Tears to a half full house. By the time my second song came up it was pretty much a full house with 18 singers. Had a really awesome quisadilla, but I will say they really need to work on thier service around there. Then I headed on over to Louie's Pub where KJ Potato was racking the place, walked in while Brook was singing Crazy Train. How ironic. I Sang Paranoid and You Got Another Comin. Service at Louie's is always great, Potato knows his sound, and prices are fantastic. That's it till Tuesday....happy singing.
26. Ozz said on 4/11/12 - 06:06AM
Hit Hard Rock last night, I really like it since Ed Sol is now the KJ. Service is good there, sound is awesome. Wasn't real busy though they had 17 singers and not many non singers. Then I hit Geckos, it was pretty busy but not a lot of singers they really like Paranoid and You Got Another Thing Comin, DJ Zero from Live Mic is the KJ there.
27. Ozz said on 4/12/12 - 12:56PM
So I started my eve at Evolution, it was a bit quite there, only about 9 singers in the time I was there so I got to sing 4 songs, on the best sound system in Abq, if you have not been there, you really gotta check it out-Wed & Sundays from 7:30-close/kid friendly.
28. Ozz said on 4/12/12 - 12:59PM
Then I headed on over to Elliotts' and Tommy Hurrikane had the place rockin. It was loud and proud as always. Pretty much the regulars and some I have not seen before. They really need to better service though. He rocks it from 9-close.
29. OZZ said on 4/15/12 - 08:15AM
So on Friday I went to Desert Greens and Slate Street, Desert Greens was great, Tommy has a very good loyal following of regulars there, the place was full but only had about 12 singers which made it perfect. Service was great of course Red is awesome. Then I hit Slate Street, it was slow for Slate Street. Maybe 10 singers and not alot of people in the bar. The server I had was terrible. I pretty much had to hunt her down and beg her to buy a beer. Hope you all had an awesome Friday night and have a great week!
30. OZZ said on 4/20/12 - 10:53AM
Went to Sandia Casino MOnday night. Had a great time. Frankie J, Katrina and Cowboy Greg were there to name a few. Thank you Byron for putting up with my picky little butt when it comes to the versions of songs I sing. What's nice about Sandia is 12 singer roation, full house of audience, although I wish he had a cordless mic.
31. OZZ said on 4/20/12 - 12:06PM
Last night I had to hit 4 bars to get the almost the last of the nomination packages out. It started at Sunset Grill with Charles, it was slow there only 5 singers but there were 32 the night before, then I went on down to MCM where the WWW drawing will be held on May 3rd...there were no singers, apparently it dropped off after the hotel cancelled him out cuz the hotel was empty...word to you managers, if you say your gonna have karaoke you gotta have it, otherwise you will loose your following and it's very hard to get them back.
32. OZZ said on 4/20/12 - 12:09PM
Then it was off to Dublin Street fro the first time with Larryoke. The bar manager wants to keep it low volume so it was hard to sing, but I made due, it's a very nice bar and the crowd in there was alot of fun, then it was off to tim buck two to find The Damn Bar. It is way out there but only took 20 minutes to get there. At first I thought I wasted my time, but after singing my first song and seeing the reaction it made it well worth the trip. Younger pretty wild crowd. Off to Hollywood Casino tonight!
33. OZZ said on 5/1/12 - 08:29AM
So in case you haven't noticed I am way behind on my updates....that's because of my J.O.B. (just over broke) thing. Hopefully real soon I won't have a J.O.B. but will have a livelyhood, that's the plan. So on 4-20 it was Hollywood Casino night and it was very slow compared to the last one, maybe it was because of 420??? IDK, but the next one is June 1st...make sure you plan to be there CMO is probably gonna be giving some stuff away!
34. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 5/1/12 - 09:36AM
Spent the night at Desert Greens, on Friday. Had a great time. Met some New people and got to do some great Elvis stuff. It was a small group of singers, so the rotation was great. I got to sing a lot but yet there was a large enough group to make it fun.Looking forward to having all the regulars coming back. I guess they have all been busy!
35. OZZ said on 5/2/12 - 12:57PM
So last night before I hit up Knuckleheads I made a suprise visit at Silva Lanes, I think I got the suprise though. I knew she would be there, but it still caught me off guard. My ex wife is now the back up KJ there. I will stay professional, but I did not appreciate the looks from the bartender and the two at the bar. I wish here well, and I know she will do well. It's a typical bowling alley karaoke place, what can you say? I sang Wish You Were Here and Dreamer and then moved on....
36. OZZ said on 5/2/12 - 12:59PM
Landed at Knuckleheads, had a very nice group of friends there. I get asked alot how Knuckleheads is, here's my honest opinion. The sound is good, the crowd tends to be a little on the biker/ganger side. Song selection, well they don't have some of the songs I sing. They play alot of dance music in between and the service is ok. I would call it middle of the road.
37. Milli said on 5/4/12 - 10:29AM
The 'Gante" was on point last night. I had a great time and the sound has improved a great deal!
38. OZZ said on 5/10/12 - 12:02PM
Was at Fiesta's on the 28th to sing Happy Birthday Crazy Train to Trinia.....had a blast it was a fun night!
39. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 08:56AM
I was at Sandia on 5-1. As usuall they had a good crowd. The singer rotation was only about 12 but every table was packed. That's kinda what makes Sandia great. I wish he would turn down the stage monitors a bit so you could hear the music and I really hope he gets Run to the Hills by the next time I go.
40. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 09:03AM
Was at Blackbird on 5-1. It was totally packed. There is a reason it is this way. It is an awesome place to be on Monday nights. DJ Speed, Best KJ for the first quarter of 2012, knows his stuff and has one hel of a following. It is a wild college crowd but def fun, they really enjoyed RUN TO THE HILLS.
41. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 11:29AM
On 5-2 I started my night at Maloneys. It always amazes me how late they actually get started on karaoke. It is primarily a younger, college crowd but they always seem to like the songs from the 70-80's that I sing. Kammo is always ready for singers by 9:30, but doesn't really get a long rotation till about 11:30, so come early and sing lots! The sound, in my opinion is in the top 3 of the city.
42. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 11:31AM
On 5-2 I paid a visit to Coaches with TnZ Karaoke, but it's only the T portion of TnZ at Coaches. Tobyriffic as you know puts on quite the show, he is a blast and can sing Prince! Crowd was about medium and they were all singers. It's a college crowd, kind of clickish, but getting there.
43. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 12:31PM
On 5-3 I was at the MCM Elegante where we held the who-what-where drawing, apparently for the last time. The MCM pulled the plug on karaoke there. I don't have the confirmed story yet but it sounds as though it was because it was meant only for in house guests and din't like the locals to come. If this is true and they decide to do karaoke again, I would say they should be boycotted for everything they do.
44. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 01:34PM
Went to Desert Greens on 5-4....it was packed and Tommy was rockin the joint. Had a great time, the nicest thing about Desert Greens is how friendly and welcoming they are there.
45. OZZ said on 5/11/12 - 01:38PM
Went to Slate Street on 5-4. They were pretty slow, which is really unusual for Slate. Sang about 4 songs in an hour and half....you know Ben-Jammin can really sing! I do believe left my Corona koozie there, so if anyone sees it can you save it for me? And thanks Ben-Jammin for putting my website on your ticker!!! :)
46. OZZ said on 5/12/12 - 10:20AM
Went to Evolution on 5-9, to see Milli before she had her surgery on Friday. Sang a couple of songs had a couple of beers. Great crowd great time. You should have been there, Milli bought a round for the whole bar!
47. OZZ said on 5/12/12 - 10:21AM
Went to Maloney's on 5-9. Went with Sandi the winner of the Status Update page drawing. We had a great time, the sound is awesome, they loved it when she sang Harper Valley PTA....a song even college kids relate to.
48. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 5/12/12 - 10:25AM
We had a blast last night at Desert Greens, looking forward to next week, there is supposed to be a good group of people showing up. I tried some Billy idol for the first time, it went over really well, must of been the booze. There were some really good singers, and some new people I hadn't met before. You're right Ozz, people that show up at the Greens are really friendly people. Come back out, hope you hit a night like last night, a lot of fun. Karaeoke at it's best!!!
49. OZZ said on 5/12/12 - 11:30AM
Went to Fiesta's last night to celebrate Kara's birthday, had a great time, the joint was rockin!!! As always, if you like to sing rock n roll nice and loud and hard, this is the place to be!
50. OZZ said on 5/13/12 - 07:40AM
Made an unexpcted stop at Effingbar last night. Rocked them hard with Run To The Hills, thank you Amos for cranking it up!!!!
51. OZZ said on 5/14/12 - 11:53AM
Hung out at Evolution last night. Had a great group of singers. Consistant rotation of about 8, as a couple would leave a couple more would stroll in......I can't enough about the sound there. The shirt bid went up to $60. See you there on 5-25 for the Chris Fennicks benifit and June 10th for the people's choice awards.
52. OZZ-POST 99 said on 5/17/12 - 01:38PM
So I went to the Post 99 last night for the first time ever. Telles was there and it was a blast. It was busy, and the crowd response was great. Coronas are only $2.50 there :)
53. OZZ-ELLIOTTS said on 5/17/12 - 01:40PM
After leaving the Post I kidnapped Laticia and headed to Elliotts. Tommy was rocking. There were alot of singers there. He's been growing pretty good. I know people get frustrated when there is a long rotation but karaoke is growing big time in popularity.
54. OZZ-SANDIA said on 5/23/12 - 05:39PM
So on Monday I went to Sandia....there were about 12 people in the rotation and alot of people in the audience. There were some people there from Hard Rock that were a little out of hand, I thought that was disrespectful. And Byron, you really need to get RUN TO THE HILLS by IRON MAIDEN. Also you should try to match your stage monitor sound with the output sound, they are never equal, makes it very hard to sing there, and everyone says that.
55. OZZ-BLACKBIRD said on 5/23/12 - 05:41PM
So I showed up at about 11, they were not nearly as busy and crazy as they usually were, but got a great big hug from DJ :). Potato was covering for Speed, he really is good at his sound. He had some technical difficulties but handled it well, for those of you who left, you should have stayed, he got it going.....till next time!
56. OZZ-DUBLIN said on 5/27/12 - 02:00PM
5-24: Stopped into Dublin Street Thursday night. Not real sure how to say this. It was quite, calm…not like a normal karaoke bar. Apparently the manager asked Larryoke not to play anything fast, loud and hard because he didn't want to chase off any of the dinner patrons. If that's the case, why start karaoke at 8? And come on, you're downtown. Me and John were nice, we sang slow and easy songs. But maybe they should do DJ music, slow and easy from 7-9, and then karaoke from 9-11. Just a thought. With the current plan they will never build a karaoke following.
57. OZZ-RETRO said on 5/27/12 - 02:01PM
5-24: Had a good time at Retro Thursday night….Twig was rockin it good. It wasn't packed but was pretty busy, had about 10-15 singers…..the nice thing about Retro, because it is a karaoke bar, that's what comes first and foremost. So there is no fear of cranking it up.
58. OZZ-CHRIS FENNICKS BENIFIT said on 5/27/12 - 02:04PM
5-25: Had an amazing night at the benefit show. Got filmed by Mr Z, on channel 27. Had a great turn out. Can’t wait to get the slide show and videos up.
59. OZZ-HARD ROCK said on 6/1/12 - 06:51AM
5-29: Paid a visit to Ed Soul Tuesday the 29th at Hard Rock Casino…..It was slow until about 10:00 o clock then it started to pick up. I can't believe how good it sounds there.
60. OZZ at THE ABQ SOCIAL CLUB said on 6/1/12 - 06:52AM
5-29: Paid a visit to The Abq Social Club Tuesday night, the 29th. It was busy, had a lot of singers and audience. The sound there is absolutly awesome, thanks Kammo and Nikki!
61. OZZ @ COACHES said on 6/1/12 - 09:02AM
5-30: Went to Coahes….Had to wait for the Basketball Game to end, so they got started about 9:45. It then filled up very fast with karaoke people, the rotation got very long very fast. But I did get 2 songs in. Toby, put his speakers on the stands and also into the house system, it sounded a hell of a lot better than the last time I was there, good job Toby!
62. OZZ @ MALONEYS said on 6/1/12 - 09:03AM
5-30: Popped into Maloneys. Mikki was in training and doing a damn fine job I gotta tell you! Got to party with DJ Speed one last time before he left to Florida, and best part of all….Maloneys is 66% sponsor of the People's Choice Awards for the second quarter.
63. OZZ @ HOLLYWOOD CASINO said on 6/2/12 - 10:09AM
Came out last night for karaoke with Audra David Salinas and HOWLING COYOTE.....BY FAR THE BEST SOUND AND STAGE in the state! Can't wait for June 29th. Would really like to see some promotions to audience people to come. We have the singers.
64. OZZ @ SPECTATORS said on 6/3/12 - 06:34PM
6-2: They were doing a beer pong contest there. They were allowed to do karaoke but was kinda hard to sing over all the screaming youngsters playing beer pong. Sang Dreamer and Run To The Hills but was very frustrating as they were very very loud. Note to self. Don't go to sports bars till after 11. I did call first and was told there were no sporting events delaying karaoke. I feel for Telles, he was very very frustrated.
65. OZZ @ LOUIE'S said on 6/3/12 - 06:35PM
6-2: Rocked them with Run To The Hills and Iron Man….Tommy is doing well here. They paid the BMI liscence but are still being harrassed by ASCAP, I really think these companies should be challenged.
66. OZZ @ SUNSET GRILL said on 6/8/12 - 05:34PM
6-6: Saw Charles, sang Time and Winds of Change. Sound was kind of ringy….I don't know maybe it was just me. Was not busy at all, me and 4 other singers.
67. OZZ @ BARLEY ROOM said on 6/8/12 - 05:35PM
6-6: Came in at 8:45, th eplace was packed, probably because of the NBA playoff. They were swamped and way understaffed. It was 9:30 before I finally got a drink, and that was only because I flagged a waitress down. My friends ordered food, it not good, and was not served at the same time. I had to pay for someones drink, and I didn't know anything about it. I hate to say but this has been a long standing problem here. The karaoke with Potato and Nikki was great though. We held the Who-What-Where drawing and Milli won. And because she was there she got a $10 bonus. And because she is a member of Call Me Ozz, she got another $10. Some guy named Drew won the sing n win. I will have a chat with the owner an dhoepfully he corrects the problem.
68. OZZ @ LEO'S said on 6/9/12 - 08:01PM
So June 7th was the debut night at Leo's for KJ Potato at Leo's on Thursday nights. Boop has been there on Monday's for a long time and reached a high point and then fell down. Since then Leo has opened up a seperate bar just for karaoke, seperate from the Hip Hop dance floor side. It is totally awesome. Lights, private coves, pool table, an extremly sexy bartender and the sound is absolutly amazing. If you are scared because it's at Leo's, don't be, there is no reason to be. Come and have a good time. Every Thursday from 9-1.
69. OZZ @ GRAHAMS said on 6/11/12 - 05:35PM
Went in and saw Sarah and met the Promo Manager, hoepfully gonna get some stuff rolling here....Sarah has really brought a new energy to this place. Hopefully they will upgrade thier song list soon, but just the fact they have Sarah is already a step in the right direction.
70. OZZ @ FIESTA'S said on 6/11/12 - 05:38PM
Ahhh, what can I say. Most of you know Fiesta's is my favorite spot. Not because the sound is great but because when I walk in this place I know everyone. When they call me up to sing, I get applause before and a roar afterward. The crowd here is always great, just out to have fun and let the hair down. And Toby, well he's a show withen himself.

72. OZZ @ EVOLUTION/PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS said on 6/12/12 - 04:32PM
Had an amazing night last night at Evolution with the People's Choice Awards….thank you Graham, Ben-Jammin, Amos and Kammo for bringing all the troops in! It was a blast. This was a great place to hold this cerimony, thinking this is where we hold the next 2 quarters. Thank you Lenore and Robbie for letting us take over,,,,,,see you soon!
73. Mike Mirabal said on 6/17/12 - 06:40AM
Finally got out to Evolution on Wednesday, and really enjoyed the venue. I see why it was voted best Venue last Quarter. I really liked the sound. There weren't very many people there on that Wednesday, but I bet it could be a lot of fun with a good crowd! looking forward to going back.
74. OZZ @ LEO'S said on 6/18/12 - 03:20PM
So on Thursday 6-14 I was at Leo's for the second Thursday of the Kammo debut. I was very dissappointed in the turn out to say the least. I have a feeling I know why people are not coming down and I will say if you are afraid because of the past reputation there I would say you are letting that keep you from one of the most awesome venue opportunites I have ever seen. I was at Desert Greens on Friday, June 15th with Mr Tommy Hurrikane.....he is so funny, I lmao every time I sing with him....he trained me on his system to cover for him on Saturday at Louies Pub while he takes care of the Event on Saturday at Elliotts. Desert Greens is in my favorite top 8 to sing at.
76. OZZ on the HOUSEWARMING PARTY said on 6/19/12 - 10:03AM
Saturday night, June 16th will no doubt go down in the karaoke history books as one of the best karaoke parties in Albuquerque. Originally hired for 4 hours, KJ Potato and Nikki worked thier little fingers to the bone to keep 22 addicts singing for 6 hours. The crowd was absolutly amazing as were the singers. Hope to get together again soon....

Went to Vagas last week, and sang at Harrahs and Bronco Bills, Harrahs was great, perfect rotation, and lots of people that were there just to watch and listen to the entertainment. A lot of people from all over the world came up to express their appreciation for our songs. Australia, Ireland, Canada, etc. We had a blast. I always look forward to singing in Vegas.

I thought I would try someplace new last tuesday. Went to Spectators about 9:00 Pm but they had a sign up saying Private Party! Oh well made a long trip for nothing, decided to go to Sandia, listened for a while, but the rotation was too long.No singing tonight for me, oh well better luck next time.
81. Ozz to Mike said on 7/16/12 - 05:35PM
That is so weird that that happened. We got there about 9:15 and everything was fine. There was a kickball team in there taking up that whole section of the bar, I wonder if it was closed for a private party until 9.
82. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 7/20/12 - 05:46AM
I went out to Sandia for their competition on Wednesday night. I always have a good time singing up on the big stage. I didn't place in the top 3 but it was a good time, although I was kinda disappointed in the way things were run. We were told there would be only ten singers allowed to sing, but since more people showed up to sing, they also were allowed to sing.I think if rules are made prior to the competition, the people running the competition need to follow their own rules. These types of things make competitions look bad and undesirable. People assume there is a preference given to favorites. I think the right people won, but why establish rules if they are broken before the competition starts!
83. Ozz to Mike said on 7/20/12 - 02:24PM
Mike that is a great update on the compition, I have had many people asking about it, and I do have to agree with you, if the rule is only 10 per night then that's exactly what it should be. I suggested letting people register here on the site prior to but they never got back to me. I am glad you had a good time

I went to watch the Karaoke competition last night at Sandia Casino. I had to work so I didn't make it there on time to compete. I again was suprised to see another rule change, as to the selection of the 10 participants. This time it was a raffle drawing. Hmmm, a little consistency would be helpful here. I can't wait to see how things are change next week. Anyway there were some great singers, and I have to admit the judges selected the order just as I saw it. I can't disagree with their choices at all. The contestants that didn't place still represented Albuquerque Karaoke very well. There is quite a bit of talent in this city. I enjoyed meeting new people, and listening to the tunes.
89. Mike Mirabal(MikieElvis) said on 7/26/12 - 08:40PM
Went to sneakerz to do some Karaoke. I started out second on the rotation and somehow ended up about 15 down after the second rotation. I don't understand how people that show up later end up higher in the rotation. I guess as people show up, they insert them in, starting from the top. I would think all new people would end up at the bottom as they arrive. Boy I learn something new about this karaoke stuff all the time.I guess it is not all going to be good!I think they call themselves Boop karaoke. It just doesn't seem right! Oh well, I guess you can always walk after your first song, BYE! Have a good night!

I Went to compete at the Sandia casino last night, and could see it was going to be a great night. There were a lot of the great local singers there for the competition. A few of the top singers didn't make for the draw, but their was still a great group that made it to the competition. It was Milli's Birthday and she performed great for the win.I finished tied for third, so had to do a sing off with Chris Fennick. He is a great singer, so I felt good that I was able to compete with one of the best. I was kinda glad that I lost so I will still be able to compete next week. The singing is the fun part for me. See you all next week. May have to go back to my roots. Maybe Elvis will be in the building??
91. Lenore said on 8/2/12 - 02:12PM

Believe it or not I went back to sneakerz.just in case the last fiasco was a fluke. Nope, they have the weirdest rotation I have ever seen.the first rotation goes first come first served. the second rotation starts with the first singer and then they throw everyone else that came late into the top of the rotation.Wow. So if you are second in the rotation you now move to the bottom of the rotation. You essentially have to wait for two rotations before you sing your second song.I couldn't believe it until they tell you it is in their rule book! Hmmm the strangest thing I've ever seen. Boop Karaoke I think you need to review the process.
94. Ozz to Mike said on 8/12/12 - 06:36AM
Great report Mike. I have been hearing alot of similar stories about Sneakerz lately, that and service and attitude management not quite where it should be, maybe soon they will realize there are 34 other venues in the city to sing at.
95. Mike Mirabal said on 9/9/12 - 08:51AM
Well it finally happened. We had a bad night at my home court Dessert Greens. I guess people decided to take their kids to sing all on the same night, which made the rotation over 2 hours long. A lot of people were frustrated. This was the first time I had seen the rotation soooo long. As much as I hate to say it I may have to try a few other Karaoke sites. I like to go out and sing, but Two hours + is too long of a rotation. I think the kids should have to be out of there by nine. It is a bar after all. But I can't fault the kids for wanting to sing, that's what we are all there for!

Ok ok, so tonight went pretty great considering it was Memorial Day weekend and there was a lot going on and what not!! But there is always one out of the bunch that likes to spoil things!!!! Biggest pet peeve at my gigs.... DO NOT EVER TALK CRAP ABOUT SOMEONE SINGING A SONG, I don't care if you're gods gift to singing and your voice was sent down by angels! SHUT THE F UP!! KEEP IT TO YOUR SELF cause I have no problem making an example of YOU on the mic in front of everyone, straight up!!! I don't play around in life and at my gigs, honesty.. That's how I role like it or not!!! There are always other gigs to go to!!

RULES TO LIVE BY WHEN SUPPORTING A KARAOKE HOST OR VENUE: (1 of 2) *You don't have to be a SINGER to support OR to even have a good TIME *Arrive early to get requests in & keep singing rotation moving smoothly *Arriving early ALSO helps dress up the venue for "walk ins" *SPEND MONEY & TIP THE BAR STAFF!! *If at ALL possible, try to avoid songs longer than say 4:30, ESPECIALLY towards the end of the night when MORE people are achieving THEIR level of "courage"

RULES TO LIVE BY WHEN SUPPORTING A KARAOKE HOST OR VENUE: (2 of 2) *Try & be more like the opposite of the normal person who would "fill out a comment card"...... Leave as much feedback about POSITIVE experiences u have rather than focus on negatives *If u need "liquid courage" to perform, don't WAIT 'til your at that level & expect the KJ to magically be able to spring u forward in the rotation...... In particular if it's busy -- if there is a large number of a singer, submit your request, then by the time it's your TURN, you’ll have "the courage" PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD TO THIS OR COMMENT ON…

LIVE MIC MAKING MAJOR CHANGES!
Teles Edwell has been a KJ in Albuquerque as long as I can remember. I first met him at Sneakerz, he KJ'd for Boop for many many years between Sneakerz and Spectators. After a falling out with Boop he began his own business with a partner. First at Spectators, then Geckos, then Post 99 and 49 and his latest, Ned's. His crew included Felicia aka Live Mic 2 and Zero who was at Geckos and is no longer. His scheduled has changed a bit so here it is: Teles: Spectators on Friday's. Post 99 every other Wednesday. Ned's every Wednesday. He is need of another KJ for every other Wednesday, if you are interested contact him through Call Me Ozz.   Felicia, aka LIVE MIC 2 can be found at Post 49 on Wednesdays, Geckos on Tuesday's and Spectators on Saturday's.
Ed's is no more!
We have always known Ed's to be at Leisure Bowl. Well no more. Leisure Bowl was purchased by Holiday Bowl last year and they have been making a lot of changes over there. They have already installed new score machines, now they are working on the bar. It is now called Mr Z's @ Skidz Entertainment Center. They have upgraded their song selection and their sound system. You can find karaoke there 7 nights a week and comedy every other Sunday.
ED SOL HEADS TO ISLETA!!!!
If you don't know who Ed Sol is, you should really find out! Ed was the WORLD KARAOKE CHAMPION in 2010 and holds more local wins than any other singer I know. Not to mention the lead singer of BLUE SOL. He is also the KJ at Silva Lanes on some week nights. On Thursday, February 6th he will be launching solo at Isleta Casino. Say hello to him from 7:30-11:30pm.
ANOTHER NEW ONE AT SILVA LANES
OK Silva Lanes, you're driving us all nuts! So I went into Silva Lanes last Friday night, expecting to see the new girl Stephanie, but she is gone and now it's Corey, aka DJ Sexykinda. He is there on Friday and Saturday's. Silva Lanes has karaoke every night of the week.
SNEAKERZ-BANDS EVERY OTHER SATURDAY
You may remember Sneakerz as Senior Buckets. It was the place to go for live bands. Boop Karaoke has held Sneakerz on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday as long as I can remember, in fact Ozz was birthed there in 2008 with Becca Calloway. There used to be a huge karaoke crowd on Saturday nights, until they started doing UFC fights on Saturday nights. I watched the Saturday crowd die out. They couldn't understand why the karaoke community wouldn't come to the fight and then sing, or just wait till the fight was over! They have really struggled to regain Saturday nights with no avail, with the Saturday night competition, it would be hard, if not impossible. Beginning in February, they will be alternating karaoke on Saturday nights with live bands. Call before you go.
GALACTIC KARAOKE AT HOLIDAY BOWL
Did you know about this? I just found out! Holiday Bowl has Galactic Bowling and Karaoke on Thursday nights! They start when galactic bowling starts, about 9 or 10 and the go till they close! You sing from the lane you are bowing on! I gotta check this out, karaoke and bowling are my favorite things to do!
Almost everything I do on this site is because it is what singers ask for. It all started with the BARLEY ROOM KARAOKE CONTEST two and a half years ago. I started it as a place to post the results of the contest. I had met a lot of people during that time. After the contest I was gonna kill the site, but I was getting a lot of texts and calls from people wanting to know where to go sing. So I decided to put together a list of all the venues in the city that did karaoke on what night. I would also get things like, what songs do you sing? So I created my SONG LIST AND SET PAGE. I would get asked how I got into this, that’s when the WHO IS OZZ PAGE came along. Then I thought it would be cool to have a MEMBER’S CORNER. From there it just kept growing to what it is today.

I would always get asked. How is karaoke at so n so? Or what do you think of this place, or that place? What is your favorite place? So I began writing reviews after ever night that I went out. But that did not send the point across, so I began the report card. This was a black and white number system grading every KJ and Venue on the quality of sound, crowd, service and the KJ themselves. Everyone I would talk to about the results agreed with my observation 100%. Every time a KJ or Venue got a great score and review they loved me to death, but if they didn’t they would complain and feel that I was being biased or just didn’t like them. It is imperative for me to have the singers, the KJ’s and the venues all on my side in order for this to be effective.

I stopped doing the reviews once I built the VENUES PROFILE page. Here anyone can go to the venue profile and post their own comments. I personally read through them and if I ever see a comment that I feel is bogus or just trash talking I will remove it. The report card was removed and discontinued after a few KJ’s lost their jobs. I will continue to place my FAVORITE-EIGHTS in the newsletter, this has nothing to do with score or anything, it was simply my favorite stops last month, and it’s for me to know why.

I encourage all of you to put your comments in the venue profile page. I ask that even if it’s bad, keep it positive, but do be honest. Happy singing! See You Soon!

REVIEWS AND REPORTS CARDS ARE GONE!

If you are my friend on Facebook and followed Call Me Ozz as it has grown over the years, it’s no surprise to know that I am ready to take it to the next level and beyond. I did not start this website to ever become my livelihood but it is headed that way and in fact already supplements my income. There have been huge changes since it first began and I am sure there will be many more. My passion will always be karaoke make no mistake. All of the other sites here already and yet to come are things that I have always enjoyed but not nearly as much as karaoke.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working very diligently on setting up the site for sponsorships, and that project is now complete. I am now actively looking for an investor or a silent partner so that I can hire an administrative assistant and an account rep. It takes about 20-30 per week just keep this thing accurate with information, my time is getting squeezed and having an admin assistant would help free that up as well as an account rep to handle and manage the clients. This would give the time I need to find the directors to expand the rest of the sites which are temporary pages at this time. It feels so awesome to think that by the end of this year, Call Me Ozz could realistically employ 18 people. The goal for 2015 would then be to go nationwide.

If you, or if you know someone who might be interested in becoming my silent partner or an investor, please feel free to CONTACT ME. I look forward to a very prosperous 2014 with you all!

DAD'S DINER IS NO MORE :(
Dad's Diner in Moriarty is closing it's doors. This is a very sad one to see go. This was a family owned and operated local restaurant that really catered to the families. They had family karaoke on Thursday nights and adult karaoke on Friday nights. This was on the Call Me Ozz Van run. Very sad to see it go.
